TEN HR CHALLENGES THAT SHOULD KEEP YOU UP AT NIGHT


This interactive and provocative presentation looks at ten challenges that HR and diversity professionals must consider, and keep top of mind, as they prepare their organizations to compete in a global economy. Among the challenges discussed are maintaining a strategic focus, aligning with business objectives, building a pipeline with leadership capabilities, developing HR competencies, and dealing with rising health care costs. The audience will leave with 2-3 key takeaways on preparing and implementing HR strategies to address each challenge.

Information about our speakers:

Phyllis Shurn-Hannah has over 25 plus years of experience in human resources, management, sales and marketing from working in both recruiting agencies and corporations, including Fortune 500 companies such as GE Capital and Sears Roebuck.  She founded a million dollar HR company specializing in staffing and HR consulting prior to joining SHRM. 

Phyllis is the past president for the Greater Valley Forge Human Resource Association (GVHRA) and in the past has chaired and volunteered on many committees including several chapters annual conferences. She’s also held a seat on the Board of Directors for the Philadelphia chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) and chaired various committees.  She was also a member of the several local Chamber of Commerce in the Greater Philadelphia area, and involved in several of their “Leads” groups. She has also had active involvement in the local  OIC, National Assoc. for Women in Personnel, United Way Allocations Committee, United Way Focus Chairperson, Lincoln University Advisory Board, Minneapolis YMCA Board Member, and served as a  Better Business Bureau Auto Arbitrator,

She has been published in various national and local magazines, newspapers and websites on topics ranging from recruiting, diversity, and work/life programs. She has attended and taught various management courses.

Philip is a senior vice president with Mosse & Mosse Insurance Associates, Inc. He has over 20 years’ experience in many areas in the human resources and employee benefits field including consulting, carrier sales, account management and corporate benefits management. He currently specializes in assisting corporate and non-profit clients with strategic health/ welfare and pension benefit decisions.

He holds the Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation and is a fellow in the International Society of Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (ISCEBS). He is a Board member of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP), and currently serves as the Secretary/Treasurer of the ISCEBS Governing Council and the 2008 incoming President of the Governing Council and is a Past President of the Greater Boston Chapter of the ISCEBS. He also serves as Director of Sponsorship for the National Human Resources Association- NH Affiliate and is a member of the Monadnock Rotary Club.

He is a Veteran of the United States Air Force and he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resources Management from Park College in Parkland Missouri.
